As Part of the Caravan team you would be providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with their purchases, and maintaining the store's appearance and stock. A large part of the job is handling transactions, answering questions, as well as stocking shelves, organizing merchandise, and taking inventory. We are looking for someone self motivated that likes to set and complete small goals and tasks and has a high attention to detail in organizing and displaying stock. 

Key Responsibilities:

 Customer Service:

Greeting customers, answering questions about products and store policies, assisting customers with finding items, and processing payments. 

Sales:

Suggesting products, handling returns and exchanges, and driving sales through engaging with customers. 

Product Knowledge:

Knowing about the brands and items we carry. Taking the time to learn the features and elements of the products as well as information about the artists and makers we feature.

Store Maintenance:

Keeping the sales floor clean and organized, stocking shelves, and arranging displays. 


 Inventory:

Assisting with inventory management, including restocking, organizing, and taking stock. 

 Financial Transactions:

Processing payments, handling cash, and ensuring accurate transactions. 

 Self Motivated:

Ability to be self directed and work alone. Complete tasks set by team and self. Eg Pricing, Receiving, Cleaning, Organizing.  

 Other Duties:

Handling customer complaints, processing, pricing and receiving new shipments, alerting management to potential security issues & low stock. 

 

Example Tasks:

  • Greeting customers as they enter the store.
  • Answering customer questions about product features and availability.
  • Operating a cash register or point-of-sale system.
  • Assisting customers in selecting products.
  • Restocking and organizing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Handling returns and refunds.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized sales floor.
  • Keeping overstock areas organized and inventory correct
  • Participating in inventory counts.
  • Assisting with visual merchandising. 
  • Keeping a keen eye on the customers for potential theft and general store organization
  • Preparing Products for shipping

Required Skills:

  • Strong customer service skills - Ability to relate & build rapport with shoppers
  • Effective communication skills - Both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of store policies and procedures.
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions.
  • Physical stamina for stocking shelves and standing for extended periods
  • Basic Computer skills - We use Shopify + Sheets 
  • Exceptional attention to detail in merchandising and organizing stock.
